Master's Student

A second year MScE student analyzing the spatial accuracy of building Gaussian splatting, and improving it through segmentation and spatial constraints.

Interests

Gaussian splatting Photogrammetry Point clouds

Research Focus

Samuel’s research focuses on investigating and improving the spatial accuracy of building Gaussian splatting. For the first phase of his research he collected a dataset of several buildings and identified factors that affect the spatial quality of building Gaussian splats. For the second phase of his research he is improving the spatial quality of building Gaussian splatting through SAM3 image segmentation and adding geometric constraints to Gaussian splat training, resulting in higher spatial accuracy Gaussian splats without sacrificing visual quality.
